    Had been hearing about this place but only made it there last week for lunch. Ordered the BLT and it was great! Came with a side of house salad which tasted really fresh. Service was quick and good too. I'm yet to try the dinner menu. Can't wait!

    This place did not disappoint!! We came in for lunch, while the menu was basic, everything we ordered was cooked perfectly!! Wood fired pizza had perfect crust and sauce. The stake sandwich and burgers were juicy and flavorful. Our server, Daniel, was great!! Will come again.

    Great, amazing food. Not fast, but perfect for a Sunday morning with the newspaper. It does help if you're not shy with your server. Just tell them you want to go....don't be passive-aggressive!

    The husband failed to book Mother's Day Brunch reservations in advance, so when I got around to it the week of, I had few options. Luckily the Daily Dish still had some seats left at a reasonable hour for brunch. Parking was easy. The restaurant was more empty then I expected for Mother's Day. The menu had a good selection. Even my picky Mother in Law was able to find something to eat (the BLT) and she said she enjoyed it. The food was alright. I wasn't super-impressed but it was solid. Service was also not on their game the day we went.

    Really solid restaurant. Dined at this restaurant with my friend for breakfast. Service was good. My Eggs Benedict was good - the hollandaise sauce could've been better. I really loves their potatoes. Overall, good experience. Would definitely return.

    I've been frequenting an adjacent restaurant for my breakfast needs for years now and don't know why I haven't stopped before? I love the outdoor seating and the garage door concept and their "farm to fork" business model. Although I wanted to try the poached egg portobello (2 eggs over portobello mushrooms, crispy pancetta, breakfast potatoes in port wine sauce), I decided order on the safe side this first time around and tried the florentine eggs benedict. My dish did not disappoint and was a well made benedict. I also liked that their breakfast menu had innovative breakfast items that you wouldn't find at any other restaurants and will be returning to try more items. As for their service, I thought that the server was attentive, more so than most other restaurants.

    Another hit for the Daily Dish. Eggs Benedict florentine- fabulous. Now smoked salmon spinach and eggs isn't something that would have screamed yummy to me, they are. Crisp potatoes rounded out the plate. Definitely worth trying.

    Came her twice already....and I'm always pleased and stuffed with their good food. I hade the Egg Benedict Florentine with a twist ....absolutely delicious. You won't be disappointed if you like all the ingredients in there. I just didn't have the running eggs. Excellent food and place....

    Went back for Valentine's Day after we couldn't make it into the city with the snow. It was packed and busy! We ordered drinks at they bar until the rush died down enough to order food. We got the pre fixe menu (me: pork belly and beets, lobster ravioli with vodka sauce, and panna cotta with grape sauce and fried pear; he: lentils and beef spare ribs, half a Peking duck; and amaretto). Even with the rush the food was cooked and seasoned well. The staff was stressed, but still friendly and courteous. I think they saved a lot of people from a disastrous night.

    The food here is really good. Most of the time I can go and do not have to wait to be seated. I live nearby and this is a reliable, affordable option for weekend lunch or brunch. This is also a great option for families with children; the ambiance is not too loud and there are are always families dining here---it feels very friendly and not at all disruptive. I want to give a special thank-you to their bartender: I left my wallet here accidentally one afternoon, and he found me on Facebook and sent me a private message to tell me it was there so I could come pick it up. I hadn't even realized it was gone! That's just going above and beyond. Really recommend you try this place if you are in the area.

    This place has really good food, including brunch and dinner. Its all fresh and hip - the challah french toast is amazing. The location is a little small and often busy, but its a little hidden so that is a good thing. They have a nice outdoor seating area that is covered, albeit not huge - its great for a nice romantic night dinner for two (they have lights). It's moderately priced and the staff do a pretty good job. It replaced redDog and I think it has maintained the same great quality - a great neighborhood gem!

    Went for Sunday brunch with my son (9) and I must say I really like this place. At first, when you drive into the crappy strip mall where its located, you might think this is going to suck. . . but then it consistently exceeds expectations. I ordered Eggs Benedict, my son waffles and a side of bacon. The EB was tasty, very good in fact with crispy canadian bacon - which Im a sucker for. My boys waffles were not too sweet and tasty. I also ordered and Americano and the coffee was rich and yummy. Not your standard dirty-water-coffee from a diner. They also had a pretty darn impressive Bloody Mary bar. Now I don't love Bloody's but if I did, this would have drawn me in like the Sirens. So far, this is among the better breakfasts that I have found in the area.

    Servers were excellent: Anthony and Erin. Great recommendation of the French toast...which was indeed... the "bomb dot com," as Erin stated. Bloody Mary bar was excellent as well.

    The evening of April 20th a friend and I sat outside on the patio for dinner. It was very relaxed, good service, and the meal was delicious. She had the fish special, catfish with spinach, roasted cauliflower and pickled (?) onions. We both loved it. She also enjoyed her mojito grande, although the replacement mojito grande we got when moving indoors (and the waiter had removed her drink) left much to be desired. I decided to go for several appetizers: poached pear and gorgonzola walnut salad was good, not great. Lump crab cake was great! Tasty and lots of crab. Also great was the special pasta, gruyere and spinach, I think. The sauteed spinach was yummy. However, my drink was nice, not awesome - the "Twisted Palmer" which mostly tasted like iced tea and vodka. Overall we were impressed by the food and the service was very accomodating when the storm came and we moved indoors. Lindzor torte and cherry pie a la mode were both VERY tasty, as was the glass of merlot and glass of chardonnay we had to accompany them. I think the Dish is moving in the right direction, just a tad over-priced in the drink department, It's still a wonderful neighborhood restaurant with a nice outdoor, dog and child-friendly atmosphere. Looking forward to trying their brunch next!

    Food here was awesome. Their gravlax(cured salmon) is AMAZING. Also, the omelettes were thin, full of fresh veggies and not greasy (like other places can be). I will definitely be going back here!

    I think this is a hidden gem, but maybe that's just because I never knew about it until my friend suggested it. She couldn't remember the name and accidentally called it "The Dirty Dish" and I echoed that, but I realized that's probably the worst name for a restaurant. I also think the street it's on is fitting - "Grubb", "grub", get it? Ha-ha. I came here for lunch today with the aforementioned friend. I ordered a baby greens salad with the organic chicken breast for $5.00 extra. I thought that was too pricey for how little chicken came out. But at the same time, it was very juicy and I could just taste the organic portion of it! I was glad they got my order right, as I requested no cheese and no nuts. The prices are a bit higher than I would expect, but it's a small place and clearly it needs to stay afloat somehow and I don't blame them for that. The interior is very cute and the weather was nice so they had the big sliding/garage door open, which was very pleasant. Our server was attentive, and I just hoped I didn't seem like the rude one, mumbling that the food was fine with my mouth partially full!

    I take my twin boys (now 3 years old and very much a handful) about once a month while my wife is tackling her very busy work schedule. It's on evenings like this when my wife is out that the Daily Dish becomes a life saver. I live in the neighborhood so I can walk over with the boys in their stroller, place my order, take two quick laps around the neighborhood and upon return my table, highchairs and food are all waiting (3 year olds have a short window!!). I can't thank you enough for the great food, the ice cream that my boys love oh so much and making my life a little easier on trying days!!

    Very good food. A bit pricey. Can't fault them for location, but the outdoor seating in the middle of a parking lot is terrible. Some sort of screening and seasonal shrubbery is needed.

    So the breakfast food is pretty good here. Especially the omelets! However, the service is PROBABLY the worst I've ever experienced in my life. If you go on a Sunday get ready to speak to the rudest woman you'll ever encounter. She works at the bar, she goes at the pace of molasses, and she always has a look that she'd rather be sitting in boiling pot of oil than talk to you. I've actually stopped going on the weekends just because she's so rude. If you have a take out order, get ready to have her utter 'What do you want?" and then not talk to you while moving at a glacial pace to get your order. They're frequently out of things and it seems as thought that's the happiest part of her day as she barks 'No. We don't have it." The last time I went in for a latte, she poured the milk, smelled it and gave a weird face, and then continued to make my drink anyway. When I asked her why she did that, she completely ignored me. I get sick from it later. I've had other waitresses before that were nice and very kind but, to be honest, nothing is worth encountering that rude woman ever again. Keep yourself sane, go to other breakfast places nearby and get friendly and quick services.

    Disappointed... It looked like a cute little cafe to grab a bite before dinner. The menu highlighted many organic vegetable and meat concoctions. I'll give them a star for the creative menu. The soup there (curried pumpkin apple) is a worthwhile choice and crab cakes that have capers in them are also great. The let down was the date-night special and the woman who was serving us. The date special includes 2 salads, one pasta entree for sharing, and one dessert to share. Choices for salad was caesar or house. After asking what house was, we were explained that it was a mixed salad with goat cheese, cranberries, etc. What we received was literally salad greens tossed in balsamic/evoo served on a small plate. Really? I couldn't have put the together with half an IQ point? Pic will be uploaded later. The pasta dish was supposed to be big enough for two to share but was really only about 30% larger than the normal entree w/o the garnishes (cheese, parsley). We figured this out since the diners next to us ordered the normal-sized pasta. The pumpkin gnocchi, though pretty good, was a little messy with the two kinds of meats (sausage and beef?), diced pumpkins, etc. Sounded good, but tasted like something that you threw together using left over ingredients. Also, pumpkin was very underwhelming. Lastly, we ordered peach caramel pie. This may be the saddest pie I've seen (barely thicker than a wafer) and reminded me of the McDonald's pies. Sorry, but we gave this place a try and not only was the service brisk, uninformed, and the woman in charge barely blinked an eye to try and make it a place to come back to for non-regulars, the food was just mediocre. The menu has appeal but the flavors just don't deliver. Good for families--saw lots of children while I was there. Seemed that the mac & cheese was the most popular item of the night.

    I made a reservation for Sunday Brunch on Open Table, clearly they don't plan on people making reservations. We waited for 30-min for our table but where repeatedly told how sorry they where NOT to seat us. We basically could have just walked in because everyone else waiting without a reservation was seated at the same time :( Our service (maybe she was afraid of us) kept avoiding us - no kidding! but finally settled into Brunch. Nothing to rave about and not impressed. Like someone said I really wanted to like this place but nahh I'll pass and go the deli next door.

    We were looking for a light dinner for a few people to split, and saw that they had some pizzas which looked tasty. I'm vegan, and was also very pleased that they had vegan cheese. The pizza we got was pretty good, not amazing (and not worth $14.50 plus tax), but probably 3.5 stars on taste. So why the low rating? When I called I asked how large the pizzas were, so we would know if we would be able to split one or not. They said 14" (so a standard "medium," enough for a few people to get a light meal from). The actual pizza was about 9-10" (individual size). We wouldn't have ordered knowing we were paying ~$30 per sq ft of pizza, which is perhaps why they misled me when I called to order. I won't be back.

    This restaurant is very charming, the staff has great customer service, and most important the food is delicious. Had the mushroom risotto, which I highly recommend, the server encouraged me to try the scallops. They were flexible enough to let me combine two dishes without dealing with an up-charge! My brother had the monk fish, nice big fish, and the sauce was amazing! I usually don't finish my meal but I was able to eat the whole thing and have desert. Definitely a must try!

    The Daily Dish is kind of cute and all, but it's basic. And not basic in terns of simple sophistication. It's basic in the way a chain restaurant is - the food tastes like something else you've had, somewhere else...in a generic sense. If you've been here before, their outdoor dining area probably will not phase you either way. I go to a few other places in this shopping area and have always walked by the parking lot tented space, admiring the folks eating outside on a sunny day. In fact, today, we ate outside. It was only then that I thought about the fact that I was dining in a parking lot. With cars parked around all around me. The white tent does not change that. As for the food we ordered, the Caesar Salad was okay, but it was without anchovies as described (I actually like anchovies) and the slice of pizza that I tried was pretty average as well. Overall, it's a good place to pop into if you're in the mood to eat outside (in a parking lot) or if the line is taking too long at Parkway Deli. (Which is actually why we ended up here.) The 8 year old I was with loved it though!

    Pretty decent food. I had the pulled pork sliders. They came out pretty quickly. The bartender, think his name was Brandon, really made the experience. He was quick, friendly and very knowledgable. I would def come back here alone and just sit at the bar (but only if Brandon is working)

    I really want to like this place since we live within walking distance but ... service is not great. Sometimes I feel like they're bothered by our presence. They've also gotten our order wrong a couple times. Their homemade bread is awful. On the other hand, desserts are very good, other menu items are very good too and the atmosphere is very nice. I really hope they fix their service issues.

    My husband and I have hit the brunch at The Daily Dish several times and have always enjoyed it. Recently, we moved about a block away from the Daily Dish and it has became our regular spot for meals out when we're being lazy. In general, it is a pleasant place to eat; however, it certainly isn't the type of place I would need to visit frequently if I didn't live a block away. The menu is very hit or miss - the salmon, BLT and macaroni and cheese are to die for, while the Caesar salad, steak and pizza are solidly mediocre. I'm hesitant to try something new on the menu as the food's taste and quality vary from dish to dish. I've found that we've always had good service if we sit at the bar, but that decreases once you move into the dining room or outdoor area. It's a mystery as to how the wait staff can avoid you in a place so small!! Price-wise, brunch and lunch are reasonably priced with multiple options around $10 each, while dinner is overpriced for what you get.

    Daily Dish is one of the best brunch spots in the area. We are regulars. We have brunch here once every two or three weeks. All the produce is fresh and locally grown. The dishes are tasty and some are quite creative. We particularly like the omelettes, frittatas, applewood smoked bacon, challah French toast, Belgian waffles, Irish oatmeal, and outstanding multi-cheese mac and cheese (one of the best we've ever had anywhere). The coffee is better than most restaurants. The decor is charming. All things considered, the prices are very reasonable. The owners are terrific people, and very accommodating. We have also come here for dinner a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Highly recommended!!

    Went here with three friends for brunch -- it's a very cute interior and their outdoor seating is shaded and fun. We got scrambled eggs, a frittata, the belgian waffle and the eggs any style. The food was good, nothing spectacular but not disappointing. What was most frustrating to us is that the server was not good at all about providing information on extra charges -- for instance he asked me if I wanted to add bacon to the waffle I ordered and it wasn't until I said, "isn't that extra charge?" that he said yes it'll be so and so much more. Another friend made a challah bread substitution and asked for egg whites only on the sandwich and he said nothing but we then found an extra three dollars on our bill. The substitution charges are at the bottom of the menu but I appreciate it when staff make sure that you're getting the food you want at the price you're expecting.

    Not much has changed as Shahnaz S. stated. Same old same old menu items. When I ate here in November the waiter was kind of evasive about the new ownership. The signage and menu still said Red Dog, but when my Visa bill came, I notice the new name. The weekend make your own Bloody Mary bar is a new addition, but gone is the fresh juice concoctions of the old place. Service is speedier now. I seem to always get the same French (?) guy each time I come. Today my neighbor and I popped in for breakfast. She had eggs, potatoes and the smoked bacon. She loved the facaccia bread served with her meal. She thought it was very fresh. I opted for my egg and cheese breakfast sandwich to be served on a croissant ($1 extra) in place of the facaccia because most of the time facaccia is pretty dry. My sandwich was good just the same. I will probably be back. I live only a block away, yet since the previous restaurant opened around six years ago and now in its incarnation I probably have only been here seven times. I hope the new owners make this place community friendly. It would be fantastic to have a place to hang out without blowing $25+ each time. How 'bout sandwiches at lunchtime for $6.95?

    I've slowly fallen in love with the Daily Dish. When it was the Red Dog, it was meh--it didn't have the nice atmosphere it has now, and the dishes seemed a lot less well-prepared. Now, there's a new vibe to it that I really enjoy. First of all, their drink menu--strikes me as very fun and eclectic. It's not the cheapest, but my husband and I like to go and try a few different things. My favorite is their peach jalapeno margarita--delicious. It's followed closely by the Cherry Coke, but that's one my husband was able to easily replicate at home. Food-wise, their pizzas have gotten so much better from the Red Dog days (when my pizza would come out undercooked). Their burgers are also quite tasty, and I have to say I love their Girl Scout ice creams. The husband likes their seafood offerings, and often gets their specials. One thing we don't like--their potato wedges. These are always slightly undercooked, so I always sub something else if I get a sandwich or burger. But it's close to home, has charm, and is a good place to have a low-key meal on a Friday night.

    The bartenders are great. The casual high quality scene is very comfortable and inviting. I felt their portions are too small (although the food was very delicious). I had a vegetarian risotto that blew my socks off. Just wanted more of it!

    I was inspired by the menu, and had high hopes for fine dining. Unfortunately, the meal was disappointing. The arugula was the star of the beet salad--the beets were limpid and tasteless as if they'd been over boiled. I had the tuna special with roasted cauliflower and carrots, which was not bad in itself; however, it arrived lukewarm. Although the tuna was perfectly rare and the roasted vegetables were visually appealing, the lack of seasoning rendered them underwhelming. My partner ordered the salmon, which was also lukewarm and under seasoned. My cocktail--a manhattan with a local rye was fine, but not what One your expect in a $12 "craft" cocktail. The rye was outstanding; however, I was disappointed that their vermouth and cherry were not top drawer. I do plan to give this place another try as I like the whole concept around it and I like to support local restaurants. Best I can say for my first visit, though, is the service was superb!

    I liked this place. It's small (a bit chilly, probably was a warehouse in another life) but the food is made from scratch and is local so I'm all for that. I had the braised chicken, brussel sprouts and mac and cheese- Yep, I'd do that again for sure! My BF had the burger and he kept saying that I made a good choice in picking the place so I assume that means he liked it. My mom had the red snapper and cleaned her plate- no words needed. I shall return!

    On a beautiful and cold Saturday morning, we decided to get brunch at our usual place. However, since the line was very long and our hunger was really intense we decided to give this place a try. To sum it all up, Im just giving them 1 star for the friendly service, everything else sucks!.. As soon as we entered, we were warmly greeted by one of the waitresses (one of the only 2! serving). The menu lunch was limited to sandwiches, salad and pizza.. NO BRUNCH after 12pm on Saturdays... ( Do you really call it BRUNCH? ) either way, you can still order coffee, Oh! and Omelet was the only dish they would make if you wanted breakfast! Moving on to the decor, we were seated next to a table full of flies. The ladies room was old and smelled like it hasn't been cleaned in a while (lets keep in mind that the waitresses use the same bathroom, so there was no excuse for them not to keep it clean!). Lets talk abt the food, With no other options, we ordered the sliders and the Italian sausages and pepperoni pizza. After 1 hr later and about 4 chefs in the kitchen, we finally saw food in our table. The patty of each slider was so thick and round that it was hard to keep it together between the two tiny buns, not to mention the disgusting flavor the meat had. The pizza wasn't too bad, in fact I like that it didn't have a lot of tomato sauce, but overall not my favorite. Im sure you can guess that I won't be coming back to this place!

    The Daily Dish is a gem of restaurant just off of Rock Creek Park and just over the border from DC. All dishes are made of the freshest ingredients... straight from the farm up in Pennsylvania, where the Chef makes a weekly trek to pick up what is most in season at the time. The word is out on Sunday Brunch, and the place is usually packed, so it's worthwhile to call ahead and make a reservation!!!

    I'm surprised by all the low reviews! This is my favorite place in Rockville and Silver Spring. My husband and I come here regularly, and have experienced some of the bad service mentioned in other reviews (particularly during brunch). But, we absolutely LOVE coming here, sitting at the bar, getting phenomenal service from Zena, and enjoying finely cooked fresh food adjusted to our likes. The food is seasonal and the chef changes the menu accordingly. Hard to find that kind of restaurant in these parts. I love the soups, chicken, and pastas, and my husband always goes for the fish or red meat dish.

    3.5 stars. Pro: -nice ingredients (crab meat, fresh fruit and veggies, good bacon) -nice server -no crowd even at peak brunch Cons: -food preparation a little off, not bad though -decor needs update -price a bit too high but not totally unreasonable Recommendation: If the parking lot isn't full, head over to Parkway instead, but this a perfectly pleasant substitute, especially if you want a quiet little brunch outside.

    This was an okay experience. I remember seeing redDog cafe on Yelp when I first started out and was enchanted by the name. And I heard it had great mac n cheese! So I tried it out a few times, but sadly each time I went it seemed to get worse. Well now redDog is gone and has risen from the ashes as... the Daily Dish. Yeah, the name is pretty darn unimaginative. And they haven't even changed the sign on top of the restaurant, oh well. It isn't all "out with the old, in with the new" though. Some of my favorite dishes from redDog are still around, including the famous mac n cheese and the pork ripieghi. This time I ordered the new salmon ripieghi, It's basically a salmon wrap, only wrapped in a thick bread rather than a tortilla. The salmon is covered in a somewhat lemony remoulade, and it tastes really really good. It's a bit expensive, but it does fill you up. Especially with the side of excellent mac n cheese. My dining partner had the challah french toast and she said that it was good but nothing out of this world. Service has improved greatly, but anything would have been an improvement over how redDog was in its dying days. The waiter was very friendly, but not very attentive. It took a lot of effort to get his attention. The wait between ordering and getting the food was adequate but nothing great or awful. I think this is definitely a good direction for this restaurant. It has great potential, it just needs to keep working on the bad things and keep doing the good things. And please consider lowering your prices, Daily Dish. Just by a dollar or two.

    I want to like this place sooo bad, the BLT is fantastic but the women who works the cash register is a complete jerk. She ruins the experience by ignoring people and then catching an attitude when you sit at the bar and ask for a menu. I've been here a few times and I have to say the food is not worth the service. Your better off going next door to Parkway. They at least seem glad to see you.

    I am a fan of the food but not so much the management. The waitstaff is usually good; high turnover so there is always a trainee. Prices are a bit high and the service is slow, but it's a nice little place and the food makes it worth it. The day shift is nice, and the coffee drinks are good!! Good specials. UPDATE: Went in for a latte to go, and it still took 10 minutes to make. Also the turnover rate makes you wonder ... I loved going when Erica worked there, but now I never know who's working there.

    I should start by saying the food here was quite good. Our meal started with 3 sliders, which were delicious and perfectly cooked. We moved on to veggie/goat cheese pizza and the pulled pork sandwich. Both were quite tasty, and if that was all I was reviewing it might even earn them 4 stars. But the service...good god, the service. The restaurant wasn't even full. We were unceremoniously dumped near the back, the host leaving us with 2 lunch menues. Too bad--we had hoped for brunch, but assumed we had missed it. Turns out we hadn't, as we discovered after we saw another couple get brunch food. But there was no one to ask--we were ignored for 10-15 minutes while the staff rushed passed us, intent on ignoring us. Once my wife flagged someone's attention, an employee somewhat begrudgingly came over. We ordered drinks and food at once. We never got plates for the appetizer--we resorted to passing the serving plate between us. We never got refills on our drinks. And we had to sit and watch our food get cold on the kitchen's order-up counter, while our waiter chatted with a table at the front of the store. The staff just didn't give a damn. I am not demanding as a customer either--just get me a drink, and check in once or twice to make sure we don't need anything. I may return to try the burger (the sliders were very good), but with some hesitation. I prefer to dine somewhere that is interested in having me.

    Visited at lunchtime w/workmates as a group of 10. Food was ok--kind of dry pulled pork, and dry chicken to go with the Israeli couscous paella. The corn and leek soup was unremarkable. The real story here was the service-every question was answered with a 'you dumbass why are you wasting my time' tone by the waitress. Long wait, menus weren't available when we arrived (had to be printed), food mediocre, and staff who made me feel like i should apologize for interrupting their day. I won't be back.

    Wow, I can't believe that I have overlooked updating this review...these guys have definitely worked out all the kinks and they are a great addition to the silver spring neighborhood. Their coffee options are probably the class of silver spring (especially now that mayorga is gone) and their brunch options are still solid. Their lunch/dinner service has definitely improved a lot. Their pizzas are good, especially the arugula and prosciutto pie. Their soups rotate daily and are reliably good. If you live in silver spring/takoma and have a car, this place is worth a visit. Sorry for taking so long to revise my previous review.

    Our Father's Day visit to this very inviting neighborhood eatery was our first to what could become one of our favorite weekend brunch spots. The breakfast items are delicious and include a variety of mimosa, champagne, bloody mary options. The staff is very accommodating; fairly quick seating was available even without reservations. Sitting at the bar will shorten your table wait. Nice display of art, good music, and an opening to the patio keeps the space feeling updated, airy, and comfortable. My husband and I will definitely return.

    I've only ever been here for brunch, but I have not been disappointed. The food is fresh & fast and so is the service. The prices are totally reasonable, too. If I have to choose between The Daily Dish & The Parkway Deli in the same complex, Dish will get my vote every time.

    Discovered this place driving around very hungry... not many other restaurants close by. The restaurant is a little small (which was originally a garage shop) with the garage door still housed in the front. Colorful place with artwork hanging that can be purchased. Many regular customers who come to enjoy the alcohol and food (menus created by owner, Jerry). Had a lamb ravioli appetizer that I didn't really enjoy, but the recommended ribs and white wine from the waiter was delicious. The meat literally fell off the bone. No wet-napkin needed. Later on, a pecan pie with what seemed like a raspberry drizzle, topped with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. Extensive wine list and several Flying Dog beers, bottle and a few draft. Great find for a hungry belly! Noticed others ordered pizza's, sliders, soups, and cheesecakes! Giving this place 4 stars because food was a little salty, but still tasty and enjoyable. Bartender was a little snooty with some of her employees, which wasn't professional in front of customers. Had a great waiter. If you go in, make sure you ask for Alex. He was really attentive with customer needs, helpful and quick, and knew the items on the menu well. You can't go wrong with him and very friendly to talk to.

    We should have stuck to the initial breakfast plan - The Parkway Deli Cute little spot, but the food was not impressive. The service was slow & our waiter came back twice to ask us the same question about our order. Had to listen to the owner gab about the two trips she took recently and a magazine article she put together. She seemed friendly, but I really didn't care to sit and hear about it two tables away. We also were initially ignored when we walked into the restaurant, I understand we weren't in our Sunday's best, but it was a rainy Saturday morning - sweatpants seemed best. and again, we should have stuck to our initial breakfast plan, no frills but good large portioned meals 4 doors down.

    Only a fair dining experience for me. My partner and I dined here last Saturday evening, admittedly close to kitchen closing time (9:00 pm). We started with appetizers, both of which were excellent (the gazpacho was tasty as was the pasta appetizer). I had the New York strip ($22) and he had the organic chicken. I guess I just expected more for a $75 meal - sans booze - off the beaten path in Silver Spring. I requested my steak medium and it came medium well although the accompanying red wine sauce and mashed potatoes helped. My partner's chicken appeared to have not met the acquaintance of even a dash of the salt shaker or any other spice or flavoring. It wasn't a bad meal, it just wasn't what I would expect for the money we spent, not to mention the two sparking waters at $4 each. I'll happily pay for a good meal without complaint, but this one only moved the needle to OK. The menu is diverse, the service prompt and friendly, and the restaurant itself is attractive with an outside seating area that is pup friendly. I'd like to try the Daily Dish again only not so close to closing and see if that might make a difference.

    i love the brunch here, just LOVE it. thanks to nas/n.s./ever-name-changing one, i got my first taste of it a few months ago when i tried the poached eggs w/ portobello mushrooms and pancetta drizzled with a wine sauce. it was so tasty and refined beyond the restaurant's strip-mall digs. i've also had the poached eggs w/ greens, which is a beautiful dish of soft eggs over a bed of mixed salad greens, cooked asparagus, crisp bacon pieces, and sliced mushrooms in a lemony dressing. light yet filling, and the focaccia on the side is really soft and delicious... and the challah french toast, which is very good, but not quite as awesome as the poached egg dishes. the normal plain old eggs breakfast/brunch option is boring and average, so i don't recommend ordering it. note that the poached eggs are only on the brunch menu, which is only offered on the weekends. weekdays have a breakfast menu with many of the same items, but not the beloved poached eggs. we just ate brunch here for mother's day this morning and it was delightful. the place is kid-friendly (kids menu waffles were great!) and lots of toddlers abounded. service has been decent to good the times that i've gone too. and today's brunch featured a nice extra touch of a free glass of wine/mimosa/other beverage for mothers.

    Breakfast food is great. Pizza is overpriced, and loaded with cheese, soggy, and pathetic. If all it took was a pound of cheese to make a good pizza, I certainly wouldn't need to pay these prices. Also, the service is lacking. Really slow. They bring your food and never return. I'm done and I don't see how this place will last much longer with me or without me. It's gonna be without.

    i have to say, this is a very friendly place. as always, my reviews are skewed because i'm a vegetarian. the food is excellent. and since i've been in the neighborhood almost 3 years now, i have gotten to know the locals somewhat. always welcoming, warm and friendly. BTW they are slowly tweaking the menu here and there, some great soups, always good pizza and salads. i recommend going when they are not deluged with brunch. check them out for a late lunch or a quiet happy hour and enjoy.

    If you were thinking about coming here, please wait no longer. I made a reservation online for my 7th anniversary and I can say that I am more than pleased with the service and with the food as well. Went on a busy Saturday night and the service seemed to be very on par, not to heavy and not to light. I ordered the Beef Wellington (a weekend special) and I can say that I really enjoyed it. It was a bit too rich for me but I enjoyed it none the less. I had the Apple tart for dessert (which was not on the menu but the waiter checked to see if it was ok for me to have) I found the price to be comparable and I would return many times over. And the waiter came looking for me outside when I forget my leftovers on the table.

    Silver Spring is an area with lots of actually good food. Negril, Mandalay, Charm Thai (with appropriate instructions) - these are places to go when you want to eat well. Daily Dish is not such a place. The food is, let's be clear, pretty awful for the price point. We have never had a dish that was not a profound disappointment. For example, somehow, on our most recent visit, the red tapenade had tuna in it, or at least, a very strong tuna flavor. If this was meant to be an exciting culinary experiment, it was not a successful one. Echoing several other comments, even the brunch options are distinctly underwhelming and hideously overpriced. The only reason to come here instead of the Parkway Deli next door for brunch is perhaps if the wait is too long at Parkway. Even then, I think I'd be better off just going to the grocery store and making my own. Service also trends towards the awful. This is a place that sells ambience; I accept borderline incompetent waiters and surly attitudes in hole-in-the-wall mom and pop joints, but customers here are paying way too much for a waiter who forgets your order three times and has to come back and ask for it while acting like it is your fault that he cannot keep two drinks and an appetizer straight in his head. I would say the beverages are the only reason to come here. They do a good line in mixed drinks, and the coffee is excellent. If you want to meet someone for a drink, and want them to be impressed by a nice atmosphere, this place will pass. If you want to impress someone who wants to eat a nice meal, try al oat anywhere else in a ten block radius.

    After months, and I'm sure not by accident, Open Table has not posted this review so I figured I'd find another outlet. It's now early Sun eve. Our horrible experience this morn with The Daily Dish has been the topic of conversation with my normally forgiving family. The other positive reviews had encouraged me to reserve brunch for 7 people & I'd hate to see someone else make our mistake. First, the host (owner?) was rude to 2 members of our party, asking them to "move along" instead of greeting them & then acting like a child & a snit when one of them reacted to his behavior. Food was barely ordinary - only 1/2 of our party's orders came out first (cold & late) & the other 1/2 took so long that it was pointless. There are plenty of other great places in the area - this one is not worth your time!

    This is a place that has the potential to be great if only they could improve upon their service. I've been here a few times with my boyfriend and every time we go it seems like a great idea but we end up leaving just wishing we had waited out the line at Parkway Deli. Why? Not because the food isn't flavorful or creative. Not because the decor is cozy and cute. Really it comes down to the service and speed. The place could be less than half full yet you will find yourself waiting a good 40 minutes for a BLT or cup of soup. Not sure what's up with that but it's just not acceptable. The waitstaff also seems to frequently forget things and mix up orders with other tables (has happened more than a couple times now) without so much as an apology. Save yourself Daily Dish and hire some better servers.

    My friend and I were feverishly searching for a brunch spot in Silver Spring. We found this place via a Google search. This place is a hidden neighborhood gem. The food and service were great. I had the three egg omelet which included bacon, cheese and spinach. This was the best omelet that I've devoured in a while. I can't wait to have brunch here again.

    Very nice place in Maryland, just north of the District. The food is fresh, imaginative and good, and the service is excellent. We have had several meals here and have enjoyed heirloom tomato salads (small) and watermelon gazpacho (excellent) as well as a jambleaya and a steak.

    Recently visited for Sunday brunch. The service was very slow, across the board as far as I could see, but none of the servers were particularly apologetic. It seems like a very chaotic operation, with cooks having to help out with serving. I had the Belgian waffle which managed to be both burnt at the edges and raw in the middle. Ugh. My brunching companion had eggs any style, which were fine. The breakfast potatoes were the best part of the meal, crispy and not greasy.

    I wasn't impressed--our waiter was really great, but the food was only ok and the seating was kind of weird. I had the dip trio for an appetizer and macaroni and cheese as a side, and my friend had the Mezze Rapieghi, all of which were fine--but my pizza (mushroom, carmelized onion, and gouda cheese) really left a lot to be desired, it was just kind of bland and the cheese made me feel a little sick. (And believe me, I LOVE cheese, this is not normal.)

    I love this place! The servers are down to earth and friendly. The atmosphere is chill, yet you can have a nice date night here. The food is great, and they make it to order for you if you have any needs or want to change something.     Sunday brunch - omelet rather dry, over cooked. Served with what looked like a handful of greens which were inedible with no dressing but wilted anyway, garnish? No whole wheat bread options was finally told the chef had a whole wheat bagel. He must have had it somewhere - stale. Coffee good. Service adequate. Might retry someday.

A group that cares about the food, quality of service, experience and enjoyment of their guests. How novel. Sunday brunch was enjoyable. Make your own bloody mary the way you like it or have a spiked coffee to spice up your day. Three chiefs and the owner working every weekend. Clearly a great addition to the Silver Springs/Chevy Chase area.

    Enjoyed a September Saturday brunch here as a treat. I had the Chesapeake Eggs Benedict. If you're looking for just plain good tastes without the sauce, etc., this was probably the best possible item on the menu. Crab cake was awesome, eggs were delish/perfect. Ham was salty and complementary. Good coffee, good mimosa, great occasion to have breakfast outside near Rock Creek. 2 brunch entrees, a croissant, coffees and lg fruit bowl, and 1 mimosa ran us ~48 dollars. But we concur it was worth it. Will go again.

    This place is great for brunch on the weekends, but it's a completely different story on weeknights. I've been dissapointed the few times that we tried dinner here. Last night we had pumpkin soup, risotto and mussels. Everything was lukewarm and lackluster. The pumpkin soup was more watery than creamy and basically had very little flavor. The risotto was dull and gray in appearance and very dissapointing flavor-wise. I could have easily made a better risotto at home, thrown a few fresh herbs on top and it would have been much more appealing. The sauce that came with the mussels tasted good, but the fact that it was served at lukewarm temperature and quickly became cold continued to lower my opinion of the place and desire to ever return here for dinner. Brunch on weekends seems to be the bright spot, with the owners keeping a close eye on the kitchen. It's surprising that things can take such a turn for the worse when the owners aren't around.

    I love this place. Yes, it's a little pricey, and sometimes the service is lacking, but overall I find myself suggesting this place time and again. Wednesday nights they offer buy one get one 1/2 price pizzas or burgers, and both are delicious. We usually sit at the bar for dinner, and whoever is behind it is always very nice. Another recommendation is the challah french toast and the challah BLT for brunch on the weekends. I don't know where they get their challah from, but it might be the best I've ever had. And, of course, you can't beat the make your own bloody mary bar for brunch as well.

    The Daily Dish is all about comfort food (dishes ranging from fresh oven baked pizzas to BLTs), and the use of fresh ingredients, With outdoor seating this is definitely an ideal place to grab a meal on a sunny day. I thoroughly enjoyed my BLT and also the design of the restaurant which was open and sun filled, especially towards the front.

    Love Letter to the Owner: Dear owner who is not Zena. Please remove the owner who appears to be Zena from the facility. If I were rating this place on the food alone, I'd give this place a 4 star rating. But when you add the "experience" to the mix, the best it deserves is a "2". I have been to this place several dozen times over the course of a few years, and was distinctly horrified the first time I saw the new owner in action. I think her name is Zena. My husband and I used to go to Red Dog (before it became The Daily Dish) a few times a week for years. Our kids went to school nearby and I don't cook, so it was a great neighborhood place. We loved it. The food was great, the staff personable and the location convenient. Once it became the Daily Dish, we were worried that the menu would take a dive. It did not. It may even have improved a bit. But Zena ruins the whole experience. The first few times I saw her in action, she was running around like a crazed, frenzied puppy. Almost frantic, she was so immersed in the "think of it all" that she didn't realize what chaos she left in her trail. She barked at the wait staff within earshot of customers and then made overly friendly conversation with the tables. Ugh. I knew she was one of the owners and just assumed that she needed to find her groove. I assumed she was a new restaurant owner. We toughed it out for a while because we liked the food. My husband and I eventually stopped going because she annoyed us so much, and we moved out of the area last year. Today, however, I went back after cycling with a friend nearby. As soon as I saw her, I realized we were in for a treat. She was her usual frenzied self (a year later), darting here there and everywhere. The minute she saw us waiting she didn't even make eye contact and said "We'll be with you in a second". She flitted all around and then passed back again saying "give me just a minute, I'll be with you". We eventually chose to sit at the bar. At the bar, you get to see,, up close and personal, how awful she is to the staff, and what a terrible manager and micro manager she is. She inserts herself everywhere and adds confusion. I think she's trying to pitch in and be an extra set of hands. It's just such bad management. If she'd just sit back and OBSERVE the service workflows she might get a sense of where she could find efficiencies, better train the staff, or improve processes. She was constantly barking at the staff, "make coffee" "stop making coffee and help with the bloody mary's" "why are you making bloody mary's when we are out of croissants". The staff goes in circles because she sends them on a wild goose chase. At one point, she said to a passing waiter "get these drinks out of here". The waiter said "where do they go?" She said "I don't know, get them to a table". Later she ordered a waiter to deliver different drinks to "table 10". The waiter came back saying "10 has their drinks, these go somewhere else". Later a waitress came up and handed a dumbfounded bartender a plate. He said "what's this?". The waitress said "Zena said to give it to you for a customer". I could go on and on and on. It was painful to watch. It is so uncomfortable if you are paying attention that I can't bear to patronize the place and fund her treatment of the staff. I won't go back. It's a shame because the food is quite good, and there aren't any restaurants, other than the deli, in that neighborhood. I think there is more than one owner. Here is what I say to the other owner. GET ZENA OUT OF THERE! She should not be managing the place. For God's sake, man, find a manager. She should only be a silent partner.

    I wish I could give this place minus stars. I went there tonight with a friend for dinner. For starters, I had vegetarian white bean soup and he had a salad. My soup came first. It was lukewarm and tasteless. For dinner, I ordered a special, Beef Stew over tagliatelle and my friend ordered a crab cake sandwich. 5 minutes after we finished our starters, his crab cake sandwich came. My beef stew came a full 15 minutes later and it was served cold! When I sent it back, the kitchen put the whole thing in the microwave and returned it. At this point my friend had finished and I had, frankly, lost my appetite. I told our waitress that I didn't want it any longer. When we got checks, the beef stew was only check!! At no point did anyone offer an apology; neither manager nor chef came to our table. The waitress was left alone in handling the situation. She was graceless. The restaurant is not professional.

    Some of the other reviewers mentioned that the slow service was tolerable because the food is great. Unfortunately, we didn't have the opportunity to experience the food. After being told repeatedly for 20 minutes that our food was ready but that they still had to make hollandaise for the eggs Benedict we pulled the rip cord and left. The nail in the coffin was another couple who had sat down well after us, getting their food.

    I agree with the comments made about the service. My husband and I went to the Daily Dish for what we hoped to be a nice dinner. After reading the reviews on Yelp, we thought we were in for a good experience. Our server seemed very frazzled due to the manager being out sick. He did not know much of what they had on the menu that night. At first we gave him the benefit of the doubt considering the manager was out, but it quickly became clear that our server's performance would have likely benefitted little from the presence of his boss. Since we were out for a nice dinner we decided to forge ahead and order multiple courses. Other than my beet salad, which was very good, the food was subpar. As other helpers have said, we wished we had gone to Parkway instead. I ordered the beef, which was said to be tenderloin, cooked medium rare. It was completely brown, overlooked, and tough. My husband got the ribs, which he could barely chew. The sides were lackluster. The desserts were even worse. The coffee and wine were good, though. This is a place I really wanted to like. I love the local, sustainable concept, but there seems to be an issue with execution.

    This place is charming and a nice alternative to the chain options a mile away in downtown Silver Spring. A varied and gently priced wine menu, along with delicious appetizers and outdoor seating, lead me to believe that I will be back here for many summertime happy hours. The mac & cheese is great, especially on top of the pizza, and the service is attentive and friendly.

    Tried to go to brunch at the Parkway Deli a few doors down, but decided to try this place after seeing the long line. Got right in at this place. Good atmosphere. There were quite a few patrons, but it wasn't crowded and the fiance and I were able to have a conversation. The menu had a good variety of things, from pastries to frittatas to waffles and egg sandwiches. We both got coffee (big cups and free refills) and split a cherry/almond scone. Pretty good, although I'm not a huge fan of scones. I got the Challah French toast with maple syrup and applewood smoked bacon. The boy got the special omelette with with capicola, onions and mozzarella. We also split an order of the granola with yogurt and berries. Everything was surprising (and delightfully) huge. Bacon was cooked to perfection. Omelette was delicious. French toast was perfect. The granola business was pretty good, but the berries were dried instead of fresh. Service wasn't bad either. I think we got the same French (?) waiter a previous Yelper mentioned. He was always there when we needed something and always had coffee refills for us. The bill came to about $30 before tip for two people, which I consider to be pretty good considering all the food we got.

    My hubby and I ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich/wrap and Wild mushroom pizza. I wanted the quiche but they were out of both types. The Carolina bbq sauce on the pork sandwich was tasty, the bread for the wrap tasted homemade but the pork was a little tougher than what you would expect for pulled pork. But overall, it was a good sandwich. I did not care for the coleslaw at all but hubby loved it. It tasted like it was made with watered down yogurt instead of mayo and the cabbage tasted old. Nothing special about the pizza. The gouda was a nice touch but the pizza was too heavy on mozz cheese. The pizza tasted good but it was a bit soggy. We had a chocolate mousse cake for dessert which was really good. The presentation was very nice too. However, when we asked the waiter about dessert he said chocolate cake, not chocolate mousse cake. It was just fine with us but not what we expected. The waiter was not the best. Overall, food was ok, not bad, but I won't go back. It's an ok place for lunch on a nice day with it's airy dining area and they have free wifi. Good place to sit back with a cup of coffee and read.

    I went in for their Thursday deal of 3 course for $30. There is a set menu of a few items - appetizers, entree and dessert. I loved the baked goat cheese and the rockfish with quinoa with delicious. I had the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc which was a great pairing with my meal. Our server was friendly and the restaurant has a family and cozy like atmosphere. I want to go back and try their make your own Bloody Mary Bar on the weekends.

    I miss the original owners of the Red Dog and gosh, why change the name to something so generic? The lighting change is disastrous - the warm glow is gone (did someone say romantic?!) The result is more cheap cafeteria - there's got to be a better way to go green. But we go to eat and the food is still good (yum mac-n-cheese!). Most of our favorites are still on the menu (never had a bad pizza and the pork repeighi is messy but fabulous!) The service has improved. I do miss the old juice bar and the olive tapenade...long gone are the custom brined olives that the original chef loved to make...sigh. Ditto the comment on the cost, though - lunch shouldn't cost $14 on takeout without even a drink! Conveniently in the neighborhood - we love that. So, we'll stay fans.

    The food was mediocre, and service was inattentive despite not being a busy night. The trio of dips was blah, we didn't finish them. The entrees were blandly seasoned and lacked any real creativity. For the price, I would expect a lot more complexity. For nearly $100 for 2 people, I expect to be wowed. I could have gone to Kitchen Bar for the same coin and had an amazing meal. Pass.

    After the misfortunate opportunity to dine at this establishment the other night, all I have are four words for you: "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" The restaurant, itself, is absolutely filthy, with dirt stains all over the floor and walls. Let's not even discuss the sticky goo that covered the bar or the hurricane conditiions of the rest room. So...let's see...three-ounce pours of wine, measured shots for cocktails and appetizer and entree portions that look as if they came not off the children's menu, but off the infant's menu. Let's not even discuss the ridiculously disporportionate and inflated prices asked for such microscopic portions and the fact that some of the ingredients from my seafood linguini were missing and the indignant look that I got from our server and the chef when I dared bring this to their attention! Our server actually had the audacity to take my fork and fork through my pasta to see if I was telling the truth. If you haven't figured it out by now, our experience was horrible and I wouldn't consider trying this restaurant again. This restaurant could probably be the most wasted money that I have spent at a dining establishment in several years.

    The Daily Dish has turned it around. They have everything on the menu and the food is good quality coffee still tops I do miss the big muffin selection though-I wish it were back. Go and check them out if you haven't been in awhile-have some brunch or go for the mac and cheese!

    First time here. Experience was alright - although I could hear one of the employees getting chewed out really badly in the kitchen. A female (told it was one of the owners) screaming obscenities - Should have said something at the time but the more I thought about it...not something I want to experience when I'm paying for a pleasurable dining experience.

    I had dinner here last night with a group of friends and enjoyed every bit of it. The Service was perfect, attentive but not overbearing, and the food, oooh yeah! We started with the scallops, perfectly seared and served on a cauliflower crema with a drizzle of balsamic reduction a perfect dish to share. We also got the macaroni and cheese which was so good one of our party had to order another one! My table mate got the mussels served with a hearty, garlicky tomato and sauteed onion broth, one bite and i was in love. My pan seared salmon with polenta and garden vegetables was so good I had to finish it even though half of it could easily have come home with me. My friend to the left got a delicious pasta pesto with chicken and said it was delicious. We were tempted by desert and shared a dark chocolate mousse cake and a caramel pumpkin cake, both good but the pumpkin was my favorite. As has been discussed this restaurant is under new ownership, this meal is a sign it's in good hands and my friends and I will be back.

    I so want to love this restaurant....the location is great (walking distance for those of us in Rosemary Hills, Rock Creef Forest, of 1th st & E-W Highway) But I have tried it several times and never come away happy. The menu is ridiculoulsy limited and, for some reason, did not change one bit when new owners/chefs took over. The service is appallingly slow. The last time we were there we were seated next to a table that was ordering as we were sitting down. They had finished their meal before we had ours. They gave us a sympathetic smile as they left. When we left another diner was in a heated argument with the waitress over the terrible service. The waitress had dragged the owner (i think) into the fray and they proceded to gang up on the diner. So much for the customer always being right. Keep in mind, there were maybe five tables occupied that night. What took so long for them to deliver cheese bread (for our son)and barbeque pork and salmon (our dishes) I'll never know. I was hoping for a neighborhood place as good as Parkway Deli but not so crowded and slighltly more upscale. I did not find it.
